We
have extensive experience working with MGA cylinder heads. Our range covers
  Standard Leadfree to Full Race.
The Standard Leadfree head incorporates 3-angle valve seats to improve performance.
Heads are assembled with new components, including double valve springs.
The Econotune Head has modified valve throats, valves and combustion chambers,
including dressing back the peak in the combustion chamber to improve the 'burn'
characteristics on the early MGA heads. The 1622 Mk11 head does not require
the extra work as it has a fairly open chamber from the factory. Of interest,
the late MGA head and the first MGB heads are almost identical.
The Fast Road Heads are fitted with 1.56" inlet valves and 1.34" exhaust
valves. Performance increase is substantial. With a Piper HR285 camshaft you
can expect 90+ bhp at the wheels using a 1622 engine.
The Fast Road Big Valve Head is fitted with 1.625" inlet valves and has
to be either the 1622 head casting or an early MGB head casting. With twin 1
3/4" SU's and the 285 cam bhp at the wheels should approach 100.
The Race Heads are identical to MGB specs and should use 18V type MGB head castings.
Fitting a modified head or camshaft may require block cutouts for the
inlet valve, exhaust valve, or both.To get an idea of the work required

described for the inlet valves too.
