Tom Smith

Congratulations to Tom Smith on his 100th Race win of his career, and what a cracker, First in Class at the Spa 6 Hours Endurance Race. Tom runs our race cylinder heads on his MGB engines.

Well known MGB race driver Tom Smith has won the GTS11 class at the 2016 Spa Six Hours race in Belgium. In his MG Motorsport FIA spec MGB, ably co-driven by Andrew Lawley on this highly challenging track, Tom has finally achieved success. This did not come easy for the MG Motorsport team as during qualifying the car had an altercation with a Porsche 911 causing significant damage to the front of the MGB. The car was repaired well enough for the race although copious amounts of tank tape were pressed into action.
In this race of attrition Tom and Andrew finally brought the car home in 19th place overall out of 107 starters which included 11 Ford GT 40's plus numerous Jaguar E types, AC Cobras and other high powered racing cars. Once more the MGB has punched well above its weight to win its class and beat much more powerful opposition. In doing so, Tom chalked up his 100th race win, while his MGB 297 EFU claimed its 96th win; a considerable achievement.
